The DynaVax cross-licensing agreement was announced a few weeks back; click on the News "button" at the top of the thread for the details. The issue is that several outside Vical (DynaVax and Apollon among others) have figured out that including some extra DNA sequences (in addition to those specific to the application; e.g., HIV, malaria, etc.) stimulate significantly the kind of immune response one gets. I was getting concerned that Vical was going to be left in the dust without access to this enabling technology. It is now clear that VICL's early lead in the field in general is important enough (we faithful, of course, have known that all along) as to get them access to this new important twist to make the whole thing work.
