Stockman, If you wish to belittle Cyrix, perhaps you should stick to some of their weaker efforts such as the 6x86 which clearly has some design limitations. Now that chip is a mess with respect to profits. But choosing to use the MediaGX processor as an apparent example of Cyrix's ineptitude just doesn't make sense. That processor, which came from a company that is hundreds of times smaller than Intel and has a research budget hundreds of times less than Intel, arguably set into motion the sub 1K PC. And the fact that Intel has plans to, at least in part, emulate the system on a chip design should be a signal to you that indeed, Cyrix may have done something innovative. Additionally, look at what other companies have developed similar processors. As far as I know SGS Thompson has a version that isn't even close to on par with the MediaGX and that's about it. And even you must accept that eventually EVERYTHING including system memory and what we now call the hard disk will all go under one piece of silicon made in one factory. And so when you consider a longer time line, it is clear that for now, Cyrix is a leader. Of course, this does leave Intel, AMD, and IDT plenty of time to catch up. But look who they are chasing....Cyrix. So, if your goal is to stir up negative emotions in people who may have not enjoyed a great deal of financial success in this company, then perhaps you should take a different approach and use logic. There are plenty of logical arguments that can be made about how inferior the 6x86 is. Why you could even make fun of that register renaming thing. Or the unified memory arquitecture. Its an open field Stockman. Kick your shoes off and run about in the daisies. Kevin
