Sibe,
Hi. First of all, you won't have to worry about credit card misuse in December of 1999. By then,(IMHO) major bank crashes will have already occurred. Those left, if any, will not be issuing credit through cards. With regard to checks, I will be sure to be paid in full and cards cancelled with documentation long before the panic starts or the glitches begin. That is the best defense if you can do it.
