My understanding is that CPQ/MSFT/INTC/Baby Bells announcement will talk about 768kbps access whereas cable modem is more typically 6 mbps. They may have figured out a good way to speed up nfrastructure implementation giving them timing advantage over cable companies, but for someone who already has cable modem I didn't understand the reason to switch. I thought maybe his service was poor or something, and was just asking for more info.
