to the best of my knowledge, this is how the whole inddustry is. maybe it is shifting more towards OO, but not as much as people people in the industry think. So there is a way to go

Management sends their resources to OO class then put them on a project 3 months later. The project fails and is blamed on OO.

I feel it took me 5 years for things to really click. There is a big difference between compiling your app with an OO language and having an OO design. The OO compiled apps are usually structured designed - God objects, inheritance galore with no interfaces, etc. I think we all go through the same conversion thinking process.

When programmers brag about how many lines, I usually run not walk. 3 years ago our group took a 20k line app and rewrote it in about a month to about 3K. This is only because of the reusable components from previous projects that took longer than planned.
