Dan, when I bought a desktop about two years ago, I was shocked at the price delta between EIDE and SCSI, so I went with EIDE while thinking that my next desktop would definitely be SCSI because, by then, I figured SCSI prices would have come down. No mas....

Anyway, some of the better Bus-Mastering EIDE hard drives (like QNTM's, as well as from other makers) are nearly as good as SCSI. And personally, I don't care if my CD-ROM drive is SCSI or not--with any new Pentium+ system, CPU utilization isn't an issue. So it looks like I'll be EIDE with my next system as well :)
