To all: Does anyone know anything about a tape backup device called Backer? A company called Danmere makes them. There's an internal version (ISA card), and a parallel port version. It hooks up to a VCR (or camcorder), and you can back up your hard disk/files on standard VCR tapes. They claim up to 3 gigs on a 3 hour tape. The price is $69. This looks like a very cheap way to back up the hard disk on your home computer. They claim to have error checking but I don't have any info on reliability. Does anyone know if there are problems with this device?
