My guess, and it's just that, is the mass killings of the last 24 hours are not enough of a national emergency to affect Trump's scheduled golf game today. Shouldn't really speculate but can't help it.

Democrats Demand Emergency Senate Session After El Paso and Dayton Mass Shootings

Senate Democratic Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer is demanding that Mitch McConnell call an emergency Senate session to pass the expanded background checks bill that already passed the House.

Democrats demand emergency action on gun violence after El Paso and Dayton mass shootingsSen. Schumer said in a statement provided to PoliticusUSA, “One awful event after another. Leader McConnell must call the Senate back for an emergency session to put the House-passed universal background checks legislation on the Senate floor for debate and a vote immediately. When President Trump spends more time and energy denouncing Rep. Elijah Cummings and Baltimore than he does denouncing right-wing extremists who often traffic in hate and white nationalism, it shows his priorities are un-American and way off balance.”

30 Americans are dead and Republicans are blaming video games instead of confronting a wave of Trump-inspired domestic terrorism.

It is simple.

The bill has already passed the House. Mitch McConnell is blocking the legislation requiring universal background checks for all gun purchases on the Senate floor. No one is talking about taking guns away or banning guns. The bill would simply improve the background check system so that it is more difficult for a person who should have a gun to get one. Universal background checks are immensely popular with Republicans and Democrats.

There is one person stopping the bill from being voted on in the Senate, and that’s Mitch McConnell.

How many more innocent people will needlessly die because Mitch McConnell refuses to his job?

If McConnell and Trump won’t act, you can be damn sure that the next Democratic Congress and president will.
