Would expanded background checks have stopped these killings? How about the Vegas killings? Do you know of some you are certain it would have stopped?

Not just trying to muck up the works. If we're going to create new legislation it would seem that question needs to be answered first, no? Because if it isn't, would it not be better to do something that would actually make a difference?

This is an excellent application for statistically determining who is likely to carry out such a murder. Lots of kids, young men, have various kinds of mental illness. And deadly thought processes. But only a small fraction, maybe it is one in a million, who will actually carry out the killings.

We might well be at a point, through big data, machine learning, other technologies, be able to get some kind of idea about who is going to do this.


Yet, we're going to waste time and effort on something that is utterly unproved?

That's stupid.
