USA: Decline of XOM is more than just this company.... this is another example of a single economy company

I have been talking about companies that work in the gold sector and How it is necessary to watch the price of Gold as this influences the share price of those companies very much.

Oil companies have the same problem. A really good oil stock is one that bucks the oil trend in a positive way. I don't mean the next "Wonder" company with a rocket IPO... In Canada we rarely have such companies...in the USA they are common place...

Look at these charts

See the similarities??

Now compare it to XOM

Almost identical right?

So you see the influence of the commodity price on the industry as well as individual compaies.

If you are in a single commodity company you MUST be aware about the price of that commodity.

This may help you to determine if $64.00 for XOM will be a real bottom or just a rest.

Good Luck Bob

I like dividend stocks as well. I think they are treated differently in Canada for tax purposes but I keep mine in Tax free portfolios so I don't have to worry about that
