Computer programs do most of the stock buying and selling these days so people are becoming increasingly irrelevant. This isn't new. It happened in the auto industry a few decades ago and it now hitting the rest of the economy.

Take a simple example like Pepsi, my favorite soft drink. Most soft drinks are made by machines. CEOs get paid to do almost nothing as machines make everything. Granted other machines are used for other things such as bookkeeping etc. but it's easy to see how irrelevant people are becoming.

How do we buy things when we don't have any income? Until that point is reached we have to be in the stock market. That's where all the money is going.
