Robert, why do people think Mr. Trump is a self-made man?

There is a lot of information that seems to suggest otherwise:

en.wikipedia.org

This line is one to consider:

A 2016 analysis of Trump's business career in The Economist concluded that his performance since 1985 had been "mediocre compared with the stock market and property in New York." [42] A subsequent analysis in The Washington Post similarly noted that Trump's estimated net worth of $100 million in 1978 would have increased to $6 billion by 2016 if he had invested it in a typical retirement fund, and concluded that "Trump is a mix of braggadocio, business failures, and real success." [43]

What about the casino chip game he and his dad played to save him?

Don't shoot me because of the source. The others I could have put up had paywalls or were more obscure.

Again, maybe I don't know what it means to be a self-made billionaire. I really don't know what makes someone self-made and someone else not.

Almost all of the New Jersey casinos have gone bankrupt at one time or another. The only ones that have survived have been the ones owned by larger multi-state casino companies and they have had to subsidize them. Owing a casino in Atlantic City has not been a good business.
