"Building enough wind turbines to supply half the world’s electricity would require nearly two billion tons of coal to produce the concrete and steel"
Why not substitute green energy for coal energy?

"two billion barrels of oil to make the composite blades."
There was a saying at The Oil Drum...
" burning oil for energy is like burning Picassos for heat".
