8/16/2019 Contest update
It was a wild week, with stocks in free-fall on Wednesday. But when the week’s final trading bell rang, the Contest median and the biotech indexes only showed moderate losses.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 11.28% YTD (vs. up 12.31% a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 8.40% YTD (vs. up 8.84% a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 14.53% YTD (vs. up 16.59% a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 19.00% YTD (vs. up 19.95% YTD a week ago).
Contest leader BULBA’s portfolio climbed back to triple-digit territory with a 100.40% YTD gain. ANDRE’s portfolio, up 55.67% YTD, and OHMS’ portfolio, up 52.99% YTD, held on to second and third place.
At Friday's close, 27 of the 39 Contest portfolios were still in the green, while 21 were beating the NBI and 19 were beating the SPSIBI.
The 167 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 16.33% and a median YTD gain of just .59%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe & relaxing summer weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
