Good Morn Margaret, Yes It looks like Microsoft is now going to be in the spotlight as some spokesman made the same worrisome orchestrated announcement that IBM made after the market closed. The markets overseas this morning does not like it and we are probably going to feel the effects of it this morning. The FTSE 100 index was down 50.3 points, or 0.95 percent, at 5,222 by 0903 GMT, led by a 3.4 percent drop in Anglo-Hong Kong banking group HSBC Holdings (0005.HK) (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: HSBA.L) in the wake of a 3.9 percent drop in the Hang Seng. After the New York close on Wednesday, Microsoft (MSFT - news) warned that the region's economic woes will hurt this year's results.
