Yes it could have happened that way. Men who masturbate while near asphyxiating self(autoerotic asphyxiation) frequently go to far and lose conscious and die unintentionally .Presumably they are in ecstasy as they move onto the next world. Now putting him in a room with a bunkbed was meant to do himself in or give others that killed him an excuse or grossly incompetent.Hanging oneself it’s not the same as not getting oxygen into ones lungs which is much more distressing

Easy TJ.How likely is the scenario described, bio/medically-speaking?
I learned about blocking carotid arteries 53 years ago when wrestling a friend. I got him around the neck with my arm and pulled him backwards. He went limp. I thought "what the hell?" and released him as he sagged to the ground gently. I asked him what happened and he said he blacked out and asked me to do it again. I considered it a very bad idea and declined. It was seconds. He wasn't suffocating, just getting the blood supply stopped. I must have inadvertently discovered just the right technique as it was not a violent hold crushing his windpipe or anything like that. Basically just holding him but with a bit of pull to stop him swinging around getting me.

I can also say from tragically sad personal experience that hanging by leaning on a dog lead can have the same effect. Once unconscious the part body weight keeps pressure on so that blood flow does not start again. I expect that done right, one could simply lie down and wrap something around a few times until the blood is cut off. With sufficient friction from a couple of turns, the pressure would not come off and permanent unconsciousness would ensue.

Epstein was intelligent and could no doubt figure out the same thing.

As ANT describes and Michael Hutchence apparently did, some people find pleasure in autoerotic strangulation and masturbation though that seems a very weird idea to me. That can lead to death by mistake. I have no knowledge about that other than that my friend seemed to think that blacking out was a fun thing to do. One other aspect about male brains is the "morning rise" effect of being asleep and waking with an erection so there's something about unconscious interaction with erection. I don't know anything about that other than it's true.

Epstein's "crimes" seem to be pretty much victimless. The word paedophile does not apply to him. When people use words incorrectly, it's usually a good indication that their accusations lack much in the way of substance. The young women knew what they were doing and were not forced. Bribery to perform illegal victimless acts is more a matter of law than ethics.
