The market bottomed when Nixon left. Gerald Ford was a neutral issue.

This is different. The market has mixed views of Gore and prefers the sitting president....at least that's the way I get it.

Besides, I don't think this market is reacting to Washington, it's reacting to earnings.

Another point, the market when Nixon resigned was not at the tail end of several years of an earnings-related bullish move.
