Although I agree with most of your post, the above statement is premature. Rather than concluding the drive will never see the light of day, I think that one should assume the worst case scnario, it will ship in the second half. This is how I think IOM managment is looking at it. The question is what is IOM have in it's cards?

I agree, Ira. Just look how hard it has been to replace the floppy. Sony's gonna replace the zip overnight?

Compatibility is king. Bill Gates bet the farm on compatibility. Once MSFT reached critical mass there was no stopping them. I think Zip's too far ahead to be caught any time soon. I hope it dies just as hard as the floppy.
