I guess Wall Street likes this acquisition as the stock has hit new highs today. I don't own SMPL , but If I did own SMPL. I'd sell it today. This also in light of near term TA being strong.

Yes, for sure, except that IMO Pure Play Public companies of scale in attractive areas,at reasonable prices, are scarce. However many divestitures of existing public companies looking to fine tune their business are more prevalent. I suspect more announcements will be made in the months ahead. In public companies HAIN is one on the block, but no bites yet. I've sold all my shares and re-positioned into more favorable diverse areas . Luckily I sold STKL years ago before it's decline. STKL has scale, but debt level is scary. The company has been through the ringer. Small attractive public specialty food companies for tuck acquisitions are closely held in many cases.

I can't think of a better long term story in snacks than JJSF. I remember when they came out with their frozen pretzels long ago. However at current share price. I have my doubt as a takeout pick. 30 year chart

Private held companies or hedge fund portfolio held food companies is where I'm guessing where we will see some more action. Just like Clabber Girl- privately held.
