Hmmm .. trick question ?

Maybe to the myriad aboriginal Austronesian first Nations of the island ? (Who BTW suffer the same travesties as first nations in NA.. But no, China proper (before current division) in fine European fashion, stole it FIRST LOL, from the first nations ,, So were we to stop there it belongs to the inheritors of the Qing Dynasty per some standards.. :)) Crimea comes to mind... and Qing Dynasty not equal to present day Russia.. However.. whereas HK was stolen by criminals backed by a foreign (criminal government) Taiwan was settled by Chinese.. who stole the land from first nations.. again.. very white of them LOL..

Anyway let me digress...

Imagine that Texas decided to stay independent ? would it be part of the US really ? (just a question)

at any rate.. the Taiwan issue is like asking if North Korea belongs to South Korea or vice versa.. There was essentially a civil war.. one side reviled by the West and the other (vastly cheered on by the West the largely Canto population in NA BTW.. Double 10 was a huge celebration in the Chinatown of Montreal of the my youth.. when I got to be the bum end of the lion :)) So until the two governments reconcile.. smooch.. there remain two Chinas..

This is a far different situation to my mind than HK..

To Natural Born China haters.. it is cut and dry... but that rationale has nothing really to do withe welfare of any Chinese anywhere...
