Not sure if it was you who discussed this with me:

Brazil consumes and export soy beans.

After the tariffs were raised by the Chinese, Brazil exported 100% of its production and imported from the US for the internal consumption.

Similarities in that Jimmy Carter found out long ago the grain embargo didn't work because there's world players who will sell, OPEC has competition now.
