Thursday January 22, 4:36 pm Eastern Time Qwest Communications plans notes sale DENVER, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Qwest Communications International Inc said Thursday it expects to sell senior discount notes due in 2008 for gross proceeds of about $300 million. The company said in a statement that cash interest would not be paid for five years and it expects the offering to be completed by the end of January. Proceeds will be used primarily to help expand Qwest's core business in the United States, to expand its asset base and to increase its presence in international markets such as Mexico and Europe, it said. The company said the notes have not been registered under the Securities Act of 1933 and may not be offered or sold absent registration or an applicable exemption from registration requirements.
