Republicans (or Democrats) really don't have anything to do with it. Even though most of the shooters who get famous by killing many are in fact Democrats, you can't really blame Democrats for what happens: there is nothing to suggest that political leaning has anything to do with it.

As to gun laws, provide proof that any proposal will help solve the problem. You can't. Because the proof doesn't exist.

If they want to enact a law subject to the following constraints I would support it:

(a) constitutional,
(b) provides for study providing metrics for success or failure within five years, and
(c) if by the established metrics doesn't succeed, then the law automatically sunsets and cannot be reinstated without changes rehabilitating the law to correct failures.

Short of that, the status quo should be maintained on the basis there is no evidence any proposed change would make the law better.

We don't willy-nilly ditch the Constitution. There needs top be a damned good reason for amending it.
