jus sanguinis, rather than jus soli, is better, if our objective is to keep our country from becoming a 3rd world. My father become a citizen and then I was born and became a citizen. It all worked out. A green card holder is already well on his/her way to becoming a citizen, if they stay out of trouble. So their children wouldn't have much problem also becoming citizens. However, jus sanguinis would eliminate the tourist babies from foreign countries like China.
