I guess my problem with your analysis is my belief in what
is very different about the Mac user base compared to Wintel.
I believe that a large part of this user base are people who
aren't sophisticated but don't want to rely on technical support
organization or professionals. You precisely hit on why Access
is cr*p for the low-end user: you gotta hire someone with specific
skills to use it. We successfully have our secretaries maintaining
DBs in FM Pro. Not possible in Access, and secretaries don't
do wizards. FM Pro with Clarisworks fills out the low-end software
requirements for the Mac user base that wants to "roll-their-own"
with minimum level of sophistication. Claris has been very
successful at providing these type of low-end products. My fear
is that they are not the right marketing org for any high-end
business product. Let MSFT do Access.

My suspiscion is MSFT wants to do Access, but wants to blackmail
AAPL into dumping FM Pro before doing so. Would be typical behavior
for them.
