If the DRAM prices erode, 3) or 4)Fire in a fab are the likely outcomes. Nobody, including MU, is making any money on 16Mb at current price levels, so the prices will have to stabilize. After that, it is just the question of improvements in 64Mb production yields for the crossover to occur.

On demand side, I think 64Mb in a cheap sub-$1000 PC will soon become a standard, so the demand for 64mMb DRAM should be good. Casual and half-casual PC users had been taught for long time that adding memory improves performance more than buying faster CPU.
