Nairobi is similar to Quito Ecuador. Both cities are near the equator, but both are located at a very high altitude 1,800 meters and 2,800 meters where the humidity and temperature are lower.

Mexico City and Guadalajara are 2,000 km further from the equator but located just as high in altitude at 2,200 meters, so even cooler and dryer.

Their climate is nearly identical to Los Angeles which is an additional 1,600 km further from the equator, 3,600 km further than Nairobi, but only 91 meters above sea level.
.

On a completely different topic, if all of the ice in the world melted, sea levels would rise by 55 meters, leaving Los Angeles 36 meters above sea level.

But little cities built directly on the coast like Malibu and Santa Monica at 32 meters would see their commercial areas down from the homes 4 meters under water without building sea walls.
