Mindmeld,
Kill the Fed and replace it with nothing.
And who's going to replace the role that the Fed was originally created for, namely to prevent runs on banks whenever a financial panic occurs? That happened frequently during the turn of the 20th century.

Price stability has always been the goal of the Fed. Both parties have become addicted to deficit spending primarily because of low inflation. That is a phenomenon that currently runs counter to the idea that low interest rates would normally lead to inflation.

Obviously it can't last forever, but as of now we're living in very good times, and politicians are taking full advantage of our strong, stable currency. Hence the lack of urgency to fix it.

Even Paul Krugman, who used to be oh-so-against "high" deficit spending under Bush, now has changed his tune even though Trump is taking the deficit to record levels. And that guy is the exact opposite of a Trump supporter.
