Thank you for the response TJ.
I am not too familiar with pole climbers and their thoughts on Hong Kong, I have not kept up with the thread so maybe I am missing information on past posting.

Kyle Bass I know a little about, enough to know he is pretty bright and informed. This doesn’t mean he is always right of course. He points out some hard to ignore facts. Hong Kong was handed back to the Chinese in 1997 with the “one country two systems” agreement until 2047. During the extradition debacle a Chinese diplomat from Beijing commented that he didn’t see what all the fuss was about as Hong Kong was part of China and would be fully integrated in 2047 anyway. From past discussions with you I know your views on the CCP being somewhat benign and different from say the Soviet version, however, mainland Chinese under CCP do not enjoy the freedoms that Hong Kong dwellers have been used to, hence the resistance.

As to the accuracy or lack thereof, of Kyle Bass’s math I would think shipping export numbers are easy to verify. I have not seen anyone come out publicly and challenge his numbers or theory so far,

I have no axe to grind either way, personally I love Hong Kong but obviously mass demonstrations in the streets and airport and troops from China moving closer is cause for concern for anyone with investment there. I know you well enough, to know that, you will always find a way to thrive and prosper whatever the circumstances.
