Here's the problem. A very tiny percent of scientists are republican/scientists. This also means the people who create the science we use today is/was created by people who are not republicans. So now republicans, who are not scientists whine about the money spent on science because they're not getting any of it because they're not scientists.

Btw, when real scientists donate to a political party, they donate to the party that believes in science - Democrats.
