It had been waiting for decades, and massive amounts of liquidity were injected into the economy to try cover up all the problems. Not surprisingly there was a temporary boost to the economy for the following year or so. None of the problems that caused 2008 got fixed, and the "tin can" got kicked down the road for the umpteenth time. The problems we had back then are still with us and in fact worse. Trump has got nothing to do with it. He inherited the problems as did Obama. Showing some quarters that look good and saying it was Obama in power at that time, and that he did a better job looking after the economy does not make it so. Apart from the debt, there are other issues. Some more history. pbs.org and let’s have a little look at that derivative problem. Ah yes, still festering away, a huge field of intensely sown financial IED's ready for someone to inadvertently step on. Nobody knows what or where they are as the whole business is completely unregulated and opaque. money.visualcapitalist.com and what’s happening next ? Even the BOE governor Mark Carney is coming up with some very weird proposals. zerohedge.com "urging to replace the US Dollar with a "Libra-like" reserve currency in a dramatic revamp of the global monetary, financial and economic order." When that is being suggested by BOE ... the proposed FB currency, it's a fair guess that the end is near. Trump had a plan for getting rid of the USA debt. Not yet possible though, it would need an attitude adjustment by most of the American nation. Obama didn't do anything to fix any of that. He pushed through more of the police state, more wars, and no reforms. Obama didn't lift a finger to fix any of these problems. I am not a USA republican, or a Trump supporter, I am certainly not a UK Conservative. Mark me down as a UK socialist, but I am a great supporter of free enterprise, small government, and in humanity. I don’t like a lot of socialists, especially those who think it’s their job to tell me what to think or what to do. You can double down on my thoughts about capitalists who say similar things… like those who say the that drinking water is “owned” for example. Drinking water cannot be owned, it’s borrowed, unless it is a fossil body of water. This fact extends to Corporations like the CEO of Nestle who have gotten far too big for their boots, and desperately need a swift and large attitude adjustment (imho). There is such a thing as private property yes, but only to an extent. There has been a large amount of human history for these concepts to develop and mature. We are in a position to make a good evaluation to proceed with the challenges ahead for us humans on the planet Earth. Yes, I am a great believer in human individuals, and of Nations. We have the internet too, and that offers advantages that outweigh the disadvantages far as I can tell. We can help each other rather than tell each other what to do… that seems to be a key concept that appears to be failing at the moment. Our monetary system needs a revision. That has to be contemplated today. It’s a significant change… I do have some training in that process incidentally… that of change. Deming of the USA could see what’s what… Listen to him would be my suggestion for most Americans. I found his advice indispensable.
