Peter & Zeus.......multimonitor...AGP

Peter: You generated some intriging questions.
I copied your post and will send it to Appian technical support.

Zeus: Since mulling over these multimonitor cards, I truly believe
Appian has the best technology and software and INDUSTRY support.
The place you just mentioned uses DRAM, which is the cheapest and
slowest memory out there. Appian uses the fastest RAM available and
keeps up with new technology. The J3 is also expandable with daughter cards to run 4 monitors off one PCI slot.

In my post about the future of Motherboards and Chips,
looks like Intel's new 100Mhz motherboard will only work
with their new 400Mhz PII and this set up is 50% faster
than a 300Mhz running on a 66Mhz board. AMD K-6 Super Set
up will be a 100Mhz board that runs with their new 300Mhz chip.

The PII is here to stay.......for awhile.

S.W.

Multimonitor and AGP

This is from the Matrox site. You can have one card in the AGP slot and one in a PCI slot. The cards have to have multimonitor support ( I believe) . The Millenium II cards have multimonitor support but each card takes a seperate slot

>> How many AGP devices can I have in my system?
There is only one AGP "port" on each motherboard. This means if the AGP device is integrated on the motherboard, it cannot be upgraded with another AGP graphics board. The only option for upgrading an AGP motherboard design is through a PCI board. If the AGP device is not integrated on the motherboard, but comes as an add-in card, it can be removed and upgraded with a newer AGP card.

Does AGP offer multiple monitor support?
Yes, AGP supports multiple monitors. However, since there is only one AGP device per motherboard, the additional monitors will be driven by add-in PCI cards, which might impact overall performance.<<
