Look at it this way. If we put fines and jail time on people who own illegal guns, if we make them criminals, it's easy to throw them in jail right?

It's what we did to black men and drugs. We put a generation of black men in jail and destroyed the family unit even though the vast majority of illegal drug use is done by whites.

It's easy to turn someone into a criminal. All we have to do is change the law.

Btw, I was asked by a state legislator if we should have tougher drug laws and I used this same argument. I said we can make him a criminal by making it illegal to buy, sell, or smoke a cigarette and throw him into jail. I asked what he was trying to achieve and if he thought throwing himself in prison would stop him from smoking.
