Any more word on these layoffs? Just going over their launches scheduled this year--L-Star 1 & 2 are Asian, but I believe already paid for, and nearly completed, PanAmSat 7&8 are OK, Telstar 6&7 OK of course, MCI 1&2 and Tempo are backed by deep pockets, and ChinaSat has a communist country behind it. I don't see a problem with these. The 1997 awards list has 3 sats for CD Radio, Telstar 7, and 2 for FOS II(I am unsure of origin of these), as well as work on the space station. Also, Cyberstar birds will be built soon. So, I do not know why layoffs would be needed, especially with the large backlog, unless they are just that much more efficient. Anyone closer to the situation?
