Michael,

Is it ESP? I was talking about the Hill-Thomas Hearings just this morning. This too was a mockery and an embarassment to our country. For the record, I thought both of them were lying and had respect and admiration for neither. I watched most of the hearings on C-SPAN and could feel only amazement at the posturing by our esteemed senators and the witnesses who were called.

Does anyone else remember that the only reason Anita Hill was involved in this farce is that she had made statements to the FBI and was forced into participating in the hearings when her statements to the FBI were discovered by those who did not want Clarence Thomas confirmed? To not testify could (and probably would) have brought about her disbarment. That said, I do not see Anita Hill as any kind of victim in this; rather, I see her as someone who used extremely poor judgment. She's probably a lousy chess player too.

On a ligher note, does anyone remember the Murphy Brown episode which parodied this sorry mess? It was hysterical!

Holly

Anita only went to an Ivy grad school. Not quite the same thing, she said snottily.

I didn't like Anita, still don't. She strikes me as an opportunist. And for God's sake, he only SAID things to her. Any normal person knows how to react to that. Give back as good as you get and they'll soon stop.

Loathed Clarence, too. If he'd simply come clean, said he'd just been through a nasty divorce, was feeling insecure, well, fine. But nooooo.... he had to play the Race Card, comparing it to a lynching. That was not what it was about at ALL. He made me wanna throw up, Mr Anti-Affirmative Action.
