FRANKEL: The Left Is Not Just the Enemy of the People, but the Enemy of the Truth As Well

Over the weekend, the New York Times released a piece accusing Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct while in college.
The piece is an excerpt from an upcoming book by Times reporters Robin Pogebrin and Kate Kelly, ironically titled “The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation,” which neither covers Kavanaugh’s education or even feigns to investigate the Justice. All the book does is try to relitigate last summer’s dubious, baseless sexual allegations of then-Judge Kavanaugh, the most prolific of which was admitted to have an ulterior motive of protecting the infamous Roe v. Wade.
But the piece by Pogebrin and Kelly covers the section of the book that upended the weekend’s news cycle, which centers around a claim of a former classmate, Max Stier, stating that he recalled a drunk Kavanaugh at a college party pulling his pants down, and another classmate grabbing Kavanaugh’s exposed penis and shoving it into the hand of a female classmate.
Naturally, many prominent Democrats “courageously” called for Kavanaugh’s impeachment:

I sat through those hearings. Brett Kavanaugh lied to the U.S. Senate and most importantly to the American people. He was put on the Court through a sham process and his place on the Court is an insult to the pursuit of truth and justice.
He must be impeached.

Last year the Kavanaugh nomination was rammed through the Senate without a thorough examination of the allegations against him. Confirmation is not exoneration, and these newest revelations are disturbing. Like the man who appointed him, Kavanaugh should be impeached.

The revelations today confirm what we already knew: During his hearing, Kavanaugh faced credible accusations and likely lied to Congress. I support any appropriate constitutional mechanism to hold him accountable.

However, according to Carrie Severino, co-author of the book “Justice on Trial: The Kavanaugh Confirmation and the Future of the Supreme Court,” this story has many holes. Pogebrin and Kelly left out important information, including that this “bombshell” allegation is actually old information that came out during last summer’s investigations, where both the Senate Judiciary Committee and the FBI couldn’t find credibility in the story, so they did not investigate it.

However, most importantly, the alleged victim, Tracy Harmon, denied any recollection of the incident and has refused to talk about it, according to Severino.

Neither do Kelly and Pogrebin nail it down. Not only does the alleged victim not confirm the story, she is reported to be denying it.

In addition, Stier himself has also refused to discuss it publicly.
The Times was then forced to issue a correction to its earlier piece.
In short, what this saga amounts to is that there is no proof of any wrongdoing at all by Kavanaugh. It was just another Leftist hit job, to throw mud in the water and ruin a good man’s reputation. All because in the Left’s world, the ends justify the means, no matter what those means may be.
As Dennis Prager says often, “Truth is not a left-wing value.” And how correct Prager is.
Sadly, the Left lying to achieve a goal is nothing new. To name a few examples:
–Trump stole the election by colluding with Putin!
–Bush lied, people died!
–Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian spy and then dumped Wikileaks documents before they became public!
–Israel is oppressing the poor Palestinians that just want peace!
–Obama’s Iran deal was the greatest diplomacy ever!
–Mitt Romney never paid his taxes!
The list is infinite.
But one must ask, why does the Left do this? Why do Leftists, to quote Prager again, “lie with the ease which with you breathe?”
Because Leftism is, for all intents and purposes, a religion. Many Leftists, if not most, claim there is no god. But they don’t realize that they just replaced God with their own god, the god of progressivism. And if god requests something of you, you comply, no questions asked.
This is what compels Leftists to do what they do, and when they get caught, to never apologize. There is nothing to be sorry for, because they were “doing god’s work.” Everyone whose reputations or lives they ruin are just sacrifices to the golden calf of progressivism. Justice Kavanaugh is just the latest libation to the idol.
Make no mistake, the Left will never give up. There is no compromising with people who believe that whatever they do, no matter how heinous, is actually righteous. The only solution is to never give them an inch. We must defeat the truly evil cult of Leftism. |
