So, you are arguing that Cyrix copied a 386 design from Intel and currently it uses it today for the MediaGX. If this is true, then NSM would have already had access to this technology prior to merging with Cyrix per the agreement that calls for broad sharing of technology. By this logic, NSM would have paid 600M for redundant technology. I don't think this is likely. Thus, Cyrix must have developed something unique. In addition, the controller is only one element of the MediaGX. Of course there is also sound and video capabilities that you made no mention of that. And those clearly represent new elements to the CPU.

Only time will tell. If Cyrix/NSM begin to gain significant marketshare with MediaGX and Intel is forced to respond, let's see what they come up with. Lot's of ifs, though. But even you must agree that if the CPU is made in large volume, with good yields, and high clock speeds, it will be successful.
