UPGRADE!Intel Corp (INTC) 77 +5/16: PaineWebber upgrades shares of leading chip maker from a "neutral"
to a "buy"....

This came out somewhere between 3 and 4 pm Eastern time. Maybe tomorrow?

Eliz, let me opine about ADI. Analog Devices has been a very high quality semiconductor company, specializing in analog, linear and mixed signal chips for over 25 years. I've never really followed them that much, as much as I do an Intel or LSI or Sun Micro, because I don't understand ADI's chips as well, or what their market is. It's just that ADI has a very good reputation, FWIW.

Ciao,

Tony

p.s. I signed off ciao once a few months ago and almost immediately got a message from a guy in Italy, and in Italian. Well, I understand about 40 or 50 Italian words, and none of his!

Eliz2-Re ADI:

I bought ADI in summer of '96 around 16 and sold in spring of '97 at 26, which I feslt was fairly valued at that time. It continued up into the low 30's before falling back again. Generally regarded as a good company.

Here is a brief summary from MSInvestor.

Analog Devices, Inc.

"Analog Devices is a leading maker of signal processor chips. Its integrated circuit (IC) products translate pressures, temperatures, and sounds into digital signals and are sold to OEMs for use in communications equipment; computers and peripherals; engineering, medical, and scientific instruments; and a host of other devices. Its products include amplifiers, power-management ICs, data converters, interface circuits, multichip modules, and printed-board modules. Analog has manufacturing plants in Ireland, the Philippines, Taiwan, and the US. Almost half of its sales are outside North America".

Hope this helps.

Eliz, yes, back to posting in my sleep again especially since my server has been giving me problems in the last cpl. of days. It was out until after 2 am.

Yes, I know that you knew that I posted to you. After all, it was you I discussed this with. Like I said, mis-spoke. gg.

No, I have never checked on ADI. And I still want Msft too. I had it several times but sold each time and now never got the chance to buy it back. You know how it took off and never looked back to where I wanted to get it again.

Yes, those talk shows are having a heyday and now I have one more thing to do. gg. I hope they get this straightened out in a hurry. I spent too much at the Simpson trial. I would not want to listen to this that long. It is affecting the markets some IMO. Nobody likes this uncertainty, it's like being in limbo.

Sonny

Eliz2-I haven't seen any posts from you recently, so I am not sure you will this, but...
