Glenayre Introduces NPCS Paging Base Station For Asia
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Glenayre's Wireless Messaging Group introduced a new paging base station designed specifically to support Asian NPCS system requirements. Glenayre's introduction of the GL-T9521 280 MHz Linear Base Station at Wireless Showcase Asia last week marks the first live transmission of InFLEXion voice pages on 280 MHz in Singapore.

''The introduction of the GL-T9521 is a big step towards the launch of NPCS systems in Asia.'' said Jim Marion, president of Glenayre's Wireless Messaging Group. ''It is a major part of Glenayre's high capacity NPCS solution for the Asian market.''

The GL-T9521 Linear Base Station features a 280 MHz transmitter capable of multiple channel operation, a GL-C9000 Base Station Controller, and Glenayre's highly sensitive GL-R9020 Diversity Receiver, which provides reverse channel operation at 920 MHz. The 280 MHz Linear Transmitter (GL-T9521) will operate up to three simultaneous control channels for the support of high capacity systems transmitting long alphanumeric messages such as email. The GL-R9020 Receiver is based on the GL-R9000, which is currently providing reverse channel NPCS coverage for North American operators. The GL-C9000 Base Station Controller offers Asian customers the same internal routing capabilities and linking flexibility that have proven so advantageous to operators in North America.

The GL-T9521 will be used to support the deployment of mixed InFLEXion voice and ReFLEX25 data systems in Asia during the first quarter of 1998. The first installations in Asia will initially support InFLEXion voice messaging. Depending on the availability of pagers, ReFLEX25 data messaging will be offered later this year.
