Some of the answers "What 'climate' is the 'right' or acceptable climate ??" The one we've had since the beginning of agriculture. "How far off from the 'right' climate are we now ??" Just a guess, but maybe 0.25 and 0.5 degrees C past it. "What is the desired result ??" FF emissions drop to zero, and the temperature stabilizes about 40 years after that. Then we might try ti reduce temps by sequestering CO2. "How do we know that any of the proposed 'solutions' will produce the desired result ??" We don't, but we hope all the proposed solutions together will. "What are the adverse consequences of any of the proposed solutions and can they be tried on something less than a planetary basis ??" What are the adverse effects of doing nothing and being wrong, and I don't think so. Geoengineering is a possible last ditch solution, and could make things worse. "How many 100s of millions are we subjecting to an energy poor future or worse outcome ?" In theory, zero. "Who pays and how much ?? The people who want to build coal plants and a grid in Africa, and however much it takes for them to quit kvetching about energy-poor futures. "When do we grant the PHD experts ( except of course the "right wing" crazy ones ) the power to define and implement a 'plan' ??" We already have. What "climate" is the "right" or acceptable climate ?? One where we can grow our food crops without extreme generic manipulation in the quantities we need to feed people. One where large numbers of species aren't being driven to extinction.The sea level rise is going to be expensive. Moving a large percentage of the world's population to new digs won't be cheap, but it is secondary to the first two. Oh yeah. A climate where the Oceanic Conveyor doesn't shut down. See the first two.

And exactly who do you want to trust if not the scientists? All they are doing is telling us what will happen. It is up to us to decide what we want. How do you propose we do that, if not through democracy??? You right wingers never identify the problems and you never have a plan to deal with them or for a good society, you just throw shit at the wall. << When do we grant the PHD experts ( except of course the "right wing" crazy ones ) the power to define and implement a "plan" ?? I sure don't want nor trust the politicians making the policy decisions on this one ..
