There's always been this issue of whether someone can be corrupt if they don't know they're corrupt. For example, a person who's mentally ill needs a friend to tell him he needs help. He can't see it himself. I think this is where the entire gop has been for decades. They know their party bankrupts us with debt after they cut taxes but they can't bring themselves to accept it. They know Bush lied about WMDs, Trump lies about everything and Reagan lied about balancing the budget. But, in their world, all these grave offenses are excusable because they hate Democrats.
