Though your pricing explanation makes sense it seems it could also be fit to describe a sell .

The rationale of the timing of tops and bottoms would also delay calling a block trade as a buy or sell .

Correctly these movements could be studied over days and if the trend is up or down then you could look back and firmly label it .

As a non-banker I believe this call is equal to the question of a half-full glass v a half-empty glass . It is in the eye of the beholder .

My guess is some large holders were trying to spike AAPL's price .
