The blueprints show a sump pump in the window well,
OUTSIDE of the basement. WTH good is that?
I rigged something similar at our first house. If you get the pump a foot or 2 below the basement floor, it can keep the water table down.

the sump pump in the window well is because you may require a window in the basement. Heavy rains will build up in the window well and run into the basement. the pump is to pump out the water in the window well only. to avoid water running into the basement. i expect the building code requires a window for escape in case of fire?
