Actually, I don't think Romney would need to support impeachment to get the nomination or to get elected. In fact, I suspect his calculus would be to try to keep as many Trump supporters as possible, while picking up the indecisive middle. So his present strategy of "extremely troublesome" is the most likely way he or Kasich are likely to position themselves. Both are going to want to avoid having to vote on impeachment. Kasich, of course, has no problem.

Will be interesting to see how Romney dances if impeachment articles get to the senate and McConnell can find no way to avoid a vote.
