We'll see. Actually there are a lot, maybe a majority, of republicans in the senate who HATE trump. (House too.) If you look back at the primaries they despise him.

They've been supporting him out of cowardice but you can bet if they see public opinion turn on this they will abandon him as fast as he abandons his own minions.

I think when the public fully understands that trump invited or realistically pressured a foreign government to investigate his opponents...

they will not be pleased. That steps over a line. Especially as it was an ally we are supporting over an enemy...

Withhold aid for an ally fighting an enemy... IS giving and enemy aid... and particularly when its withheld to invite them to investigate his potential opponent in an election.

Can you imagine if Roosevelt did that to the British in WWII?
