Can someone post what GLM CEO said on NBR tonight? I'm still at work and couldn't watch. Anyone? Bueller? Anyone? Bueller?

I think that SLB has a communication problem with its investors
period. Many on this thread as well as some analysts have
noted that SLB is particularly HUSH, HUSH. Try calling SLB-
these guys won't provide any specifics at all. They won't
disclose day rates(even to analysts they say). They won't
give any specifics on business conditions. So rumour/innuendo
and misinterpretation results. Remember a few weeks ago the
rumor that SLB secured a contract at a "below market rate."
Even though the rumour was false, the stock reacted.
I know SLB doesn't want to get sued-but they should at least
speak with one voice to the investment community.

I agree with your sentiment. SLB botched their press release big time if indeed they believe the clarification issued: The company confirmed this afternoon that its clients could move either way, and not just down. When combined with the comparison of earnings against the wrong benchmark (which it should have anticipated), this is the mother of all faux pas. The $3B loss of market cap was for SLB alone. If we look at what it did to all drillers, it might account for ten times as much as SLB's loss of market cap. And why did SLB wait 'till after the market close to issue the clarification? Hopefully the media will pick up these clarification and, hopefully, undo some of the damage. Tulvio
