QUALCOMM Technology Pavilion Featured at QUALCOMM SuperFest XXXII
- 100,000 People Expected to Visit QUALCOMM's 13,000-Square-Foot Attraction Over Super Bowl XXXII Weekend -
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM - news) today announced it will host a spectacular display of state-of-the-art- technology at the QUALCOMM Technology Pavilion on the grounds of the QUALCOMM SuperFest XXXII presented by Sprint and Sprint PCS. The QUALCOMM Technology Pavilion is open to the public on Friday, January 23, 1998, 6 p.m. to midnight, and Saturday, January 24, 1998, 10 a.m. to midnight. Exhibits at the pavilion will include a history wall with highlights of the progress of San Diego and QUALCOMM over the decade from Super Bowl XXII to Super Bowl XXXII. Also on display is the Sprint PCS, QUALCOMM and Radio Shack sponsored Indy 500 race show car. Admission to the Pavilion is free. Weather permitting, the Technology Pavilion site will also feature a 30-foot inflatable Sprint PCS/QUALCOMM co-branded Q(TM) phone.

QUALCOMM's Technology Pavilion, located across from the Convention Center (on the corner of 5th Avenue and Harbor Drive, between ''K'' and ''L'' Streets, at the entry to the Super Fest) will feature interactive demonstrations of QUALCOMM's wireless communications solutions including:
An opportunity to send friends and family e-mail and video e-mail using QUALCOMM's Eudora Pro(R) software; and a demonstration of easy access to sports scores, traffic status, weather updates, stock quotes, movie listings, and restaurant menus and reservations using QUALCOMM's revolutionary Q(TM) phone.
In addition, the Pavilion will feature a special press area with a lounge and work space for credentialed media. Private technology demos will be offered in this private setting. Hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be served in the press area throughout the hours of the QUALCOMM SuperFest.
The history wall exhibit, entitled ''QUALCOMM and San Diego Moving Forward Together,'' will include San Diego sports highlights, QUALCOMM company benchmarks and San Diego city history. San Diego sports highlights include information about Super Bowl XXII hosted by San Diego a decade ago, in 1988; Dennis Connor's Stars and Stripes team who won the America's Cup for the San Diego Yacht Club in 1987 and Bill Koch who defended the Cup on America3 in 1992; and the Major League Baseball All Star Games hosted at the stadium in 1992. QUALCOMM's extensive line of CDMA phones and wireless communication products will also be featured, including QUALCOMM's first CDMA phones, the CD3000 and CD7000, and the Viterbi chip.
The exhibit will also cover San Diego's growth over the past decade from a population of two million people, with a Gross Regional Product (GRP) of $40 billion, to a present population of 2.7 million people, with a GRP of $87 billion.
Not to be missed, the Sprint PCS/Radio Shack/QUALCOMM 1998 Indy race show car will also be featured at the QUALCOMM Pavilion. The 1998 car, headed by the Treadway racing team, features a G-Force Chassis powered by a Oldsmobile Aurora V8 700 horsepower. The Treadway racing team, along with driver Arie Luyendyk, won the 1997 Indianapolis 500.
