I can relate to the reload problem! I can't count the number of times I have had to 'start over'. My resolution was to use 'pluggable' drives as opposed to internal, so when it hits, I swap out the bad set with another, and recover. Still not a pleasent task. As for the speed comparison difference I suspect that it was mainly due to the SCSI type disk access provided by the dual EIDE ports, but I don't know. The Dual P200 has 2 chips alright, but in reality for real speed to be achieved, the code has to be written for multi-processors. There is not much out there as of yet, maybe some portions of a CAD-CAM or so where updating a display is done, and one pixel is not dependant on another. Is your problem with W95, or NT? As a passing note, most of the new processors are now 3.3v or less with on chip regulation. I've heard of some 1.8v stuff in the labs, but it gets tough to decide if a 'state' has changed. The will get it worked out, I'm sure. I added a SyQuest - SyJet 1.5G removable disk drive to store my development stuff on, and hopefully back it up often enough so that any crash-recovery doesn't cost too much in the way of time. I'll see. I also use a BEST Power Technologies UPS to insure that my computer gets nothing but the BEST power. ( Some of your crashes may be caused by power apperitions you never see! ) Just a thought. Ken

AS far as speed comparisons, a buddy of mine has 5 Sun systems, (he likes computers) one is a 120 MHz (in that range) Sun system, he put it up agaist his friends Dual P200 machine, and the Sun blew its doors off. The PROBLEM with the entire tech sector is that we have a bunch of HARD SCIENCE folks that did not pay attention in economics class. SPEED does not matter, BETTER does not matter, MORE quality DOES not matter, all that matters is SUPPLY vs. DEMAND, if people want garbage, give them garbage, Microsoft understands this concept, IBM did not, APPLE did not, SUN does not, Remember one of the top ten laws of computing, the machine is WORTHLESS, the software you BUY to RUN on it is what you should make your decision on, lets see when I walk into my local wal-mart I see ALOT of WINDOWS software, NO APPLE, NO SUN, NO UNIX, NOTHING but WINDOWS EVERYWHERE, technology ALONE is not enough, it never has been and it never will be and as long as people believe in that LIE the billster will continue to crush the superior product HANDS DOWN. Simple economics and marketing. HAIL to the great cornholio.
