Petz, At some point there is an unmakeable processor,get enough parts and nothing works, thats why the modular approach to fighter planes etc.
Do they not emulate it first before they make their first silicon and run it slowly to see how it works and is/isnot broken?
You comment that the critical thing is the speed and area of the FPGM part that limits what can be done. Could they not use flash and then write it to on chip fast memory, like booting the motherboard? Only the known good code would be hard wired, all else would be in flash, and loaded at power up. Like a BIOS on a motherboard. Is there a way to do this?, or is it a bad idea, as that kind of memory would inevitable be too slow.

Pentium II 233 - slower then Pentium 133?

On my Pentium II 233 MHz (mainboard Soyo 6KB, 32 MB SDRAM 10ns) this program needs about 1593 (+/- 1) clock ticks to end. It is about 90 seconds.

On my Pentium 133 MHz (ASUS P/I-P55SP4 mainboard, 32 MB EDO and 16 MB DRAM) it takes 1300 ticks to finish.

Pentium II needs 22.5% more time for this task, regardless almost two times faster clock.
