Thanks. I'd readily get Oneplus 7 Pro if they had not"upgraded" to 90Hz display and in-display fingerprint reader. How ironic for them lose sale b/c of the upgrades.

I am surprised that Huawei is still on the list. They didn't even mention that you cannot get android proper and Play Store with it. This is due to the ban by Trump.

So that leaves me with Samsung Note 9 and Google Pixel 3. They are both last year's models, so there is substantial price drop. And both lack all the annoying upgrades that I hate.

The one major drawback of getting a phone now is that I will miss on 5G. But I am guessing that it will be a while before the infrastructure roles out and by then I can get a top of the line 2021 phone on the cheap.

My other option is to kick the can down the road and see what happens. I'm ordering a new battery for my phone regardless of my upgrade. So maybe once the battery is in I decide to just keep what I have.

So I called my service provider to see what kind of discounts I can get if I commit to a 2yr plan, and their numbers did not make sense. When I dug in deeper, the rep let me know that once the new iphone and Samsung were released the company *raised* the price of old phones in order to make the new ones seem cheaper in comparison. She suggested that if I can wait for month or two, the prices will come down for the holiday season buying spree.

So much for my hopes of scoring a great deal on last year's model.
